This Privacy Policy explains what information Gochyu collects when you use this website, why we collect it, who we share it with, and what control you have over it. Gochyu is operated by OK Digital Ltd ("OK Digital", "we", "us"), which is the data controller for the purposes of this policy. You can reach us at our contact page or by email at info@gochyu.com.
Gochyu is a free set of tools that inspects a website address you give us and tries to work out what platform it runs on — WordPress, Shopify, Joomla, Drupal, Squarespace, Wix, PrestaShop and others — along with its theme and, where detectable, its plugins or apps. We also run a handful of small utilities such as a UTM builder, a URL decoder, a domain availability check and name generators, plus a blog.
You do not need an account to use any of it. Most of what we collect follows from the fact that you asked us to look at a URL.
When you run a detection, we store the website address you submitted together with the result of the analysis — the platform detected, the theme, and any plugins or apps we identified. We keep these records so that repeat lookups are fast, so we can show aggregate statistics about the platforms we see, and so we can improve our detection patterns.
Please note that a submitted URL is not treated as private. Only submit addresses of publicly accessible websites. Do not paste URLs that contain personal data, session tokens, password-reset links, private previews or anything else you would not want recorded — we fetch the page at that address and log the address itself.
Email addresses submitted for results or the newsletter are passed to OK Digital's own mailing list system, and tagged with the source they came from.
Like most websites, our servers and our analytics tools record technical information as you browse: your IP address, browser type and version, device and operating system, referring page, the pages you view and the time you view them. When you use our Shopify app detection, or click through to an app or product we link to, we log the IP address alongside that event as part of the usage and click records described in section 4.
If you install our browser extension, activating it on a page sends that page's address to Gochyu for analysis, exactly as if you had pasted it into the site. The same handling described in section 2.1 applies. The extension does not read your browsing history or send us pages you have not explicitly asked it to check.
We use cookies and comparable browser storage for the following purposes:
You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking the strictly necessary ones may break parts of the site; blocking the others will not.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your data to build advertising profiles about you.
Gochyu is free, and it is funded in part by affiliate commissions. Some outbound links on this site — to themes, plugins, apps, hosting and other services — are affiliate links. If you click one and later buy something, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Clicking such a link passes a tracking identifier to our affiliate tracking partner and to the merchant, so the sale can be attributed to us. This does not affect which platforms we detect or what results we report. Our full disclaimer and third-party links notice has more detail.
We share personal information only with service providers who help us run Gochyu, and only for that purpose:
We may also disclose information where we are legally required to do so, or where it is necessary to protect our rights, our users or the security of our service. If OK Digital's business or assets are ever transferred, information may be transferred as part of that transaction; this policy would continue to apply to it.
OK Digital Ltd and its service providers operate internationally, and your information may be processed on servers outside your country of residence, including outside the European Economic Area. Where that happens we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses or an adequacy decision covering the destination country.
If you are in the EEA or the UK, we process your personal information on these bases:
Detection records are kept for as long as they remain useful for serving results and improving the tools. Contact messages are kept for as long as needed to handle your enquiry and for a reasonable period afterwards. Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. Analytics data is retained according to the retention settings of the analytics provider. We delete or anonymise information when it is no longer needed for the purposes described here.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to how we process it, to receive it in a portable format, and to withdraw consent you have given. If you are in California, you also have the right to know what categories of personal information we collect and how we use them, the right to request deletion, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. As stated above, we do not sell personal information.
To exercise any of these rights, write to us at our contact page. We will respond within the time the applicable law allows. If you are in the EEA or the UK and you are not satisfied with our response, you have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the information we hold, including serving the site over HTTPS and restricting access to our systems. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Gochyu is a tool for website owners and developers and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
This site links to websites we do not control, including the sites you ask us to analyse and the merchants behind our affiliate links. Their privacy practices are their own. We encourage you to read the privacy policy of any site you visit from here.
We may update this policy as the service changes or as the law requires. When we do, we will revise the "last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes will be made clear on the site.
