AI Website Checker

You found a site you like and it looks suspiciously like it took an afternoon. Paste the address above and we will check whether it runs on Lovable, Base44, Framer, Bolt.new, Replit, v0 or Durable. Knowing the tool is useful for one practical reason: it tells you what it would take to make something similar yourself.

The checker opens the site, reads the code it serves and looks for marks each platform leaves behind. It works on the platform's own addresses, and in most cases on custom domains too.

Which AI builders turn up most in our checks

This list comes straight from our detection log and changes as people use the checker. We began counting these builders in November 2026, so it is an early picture of what our visitors look up, not a measure of the whole web.

What each AI builder is actually good at

If the check names a builder, this is what that tells you about the site, and whether the same tool suits what you have in mind.

BuilderPeople use it forWorth knowing
LovableWeb apps and startup prototypes built by chattingStrongest when the app needs logins and saved data
Base44Working apps with the database and hosting already includedOwned by Wix, and you never have to think about deployment
FramerPolished marketing sites and portfoliosA design tool first, so many Framer sites had no AI involved
Bolt.newFull projects built in the browserEasier if you are comfortable reading some code
ReplitApps made with a coding agent, then hosted in the same placeA full coding workspace, so expect more to learn
v0Interfaces and pages published through VercelMade for React, so it leans towards developers
DurableQuick sites for small local businessesFast to start, with less control over the design

What to do with the result

  • You want the same kind of site. Start with the same builder. Describe what the site does in plain words rather than asking for a copy, since the design and text still belong to its owner.
  • You are comparing a competitor. A builder result tells you what they spent to get started, which is often very little. It says nothing about how well the business runs.
  • You are hiring someone. If an agency shows you this site as custom work, ask what they built on it. Using a builder is fine, as long as the price and the pitch reflect that.
  • You are thinking of buying the site. Ask whether the code can be exported. Moving away from a hosted builder can mean starting again.

When the checker finds no AI builder

An empty result does not mean a person built the site by hand. Three things can hide it:

  • The tool handed the site over. ZipWP and 10Web leave you with a regular WordPress site, and Wix AI leaves a regular Wix site. Our WordPress detector and Wix detector can name the platform, but nothing separates AI output from a site made by hand.
  • The code was written with an assistant. Cursor and ChatGPT host nothing, so there is no platform to find.
  • The owner cleaned up. A project exported from a builder and hosted elsewhere can lose its marks, and Bolt.new sites lose ours once the badge script is removed.

For anything else, our CMS detector covers the wider field of platforms.

Ready to make your own?

If the plan is an app rather than a brochure site, try Base44. You describe it, it builds it and hosts it, and you can see in an evening whether the idea holds up. For a wider comparison, read our guide to AI website builders.

FAQs
  • How do I know if a website is AI generated?
Start with the checker on this page. If it names a builder, the site runs on an AI tool's platform. If it does not, read the copy for vague claims and look for real names, photos and contact details, though none of those prove anything.
  • Is the AI website checker free?
Yes, it costs nothing and needs no account. Using the tool may open an offer from a relevant vendor in a new tab.
  • Can I copy a site once I know how it was built?
You can build something that does the same job, but the text, images and branding still belong to the owner. Use the site as a brief, not as a template.
  • Will Google penalise a site because it was built with AI?
Not because of the tool. Google judges the page people see, so a thin site gets the same treatment whoever or whatever built it.
  • Can I move a site off an AI builder later?
It depends on the builder. Tools built around code, such as Lovable and Bolt.new, let you take the project with you. Check the export options before you commit to any platform.
